About Us

We are an interdisciplinary team at the Institute of Applied Sciences (IAF) at Pforzheim University, working on economic, technical and environmental issues.

Since 1999, our topics have ranged from material flow analysis to sustainable environmental control to environmental management. Our focus is on "material efficiency" and "operational energy and material flow management" as well as on modelling product and production systems.

Through our projects, we hope to contribute to the sustainable use of resources and to develop innovative concepts with practical applications for the economy. These insights are integrated into the training of business economists and industrial engineers at Pforzheim University.

We are involved in numerous research projects, e.g., for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and for the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, and occasionally lead larger research groups. In addition, we cooperate with large companies as well as small and medium enterprises (SME's), having successfully consulted on many projects. We partner with groups of researchers from other institutions such as the University of Lueneburg, the Research Centre Karlsruhe and Technical University of Braunschweig. Our results contribute to the development of professional instruments and software, which are subsequently used internationally.
